Volcanic Creek

This, was a study inspired, by a large image I saw of a creek here in Washington. I started off being very true to the reference then- once I got a feel for the painting and its direction... I put the photos aside and just went for it! Also, as I was working on the image, I was thinking a lot about John Singer Sargent and his amazing Alpine Rock/Waterfall Paintings. This idea helped me to get a little looser with the water in areas.
